Construction year (repost)

Hi again! I posted yesterday with a question, and received a really prompt email (thank you!) that there was a response, but the link says the page can’t be found and I can’t seem to find my original post or the new reply anywhere. So sorry if I’m just overlooking it!
My concern was: I had my first feng shui consultation yesterday – working on my case studies to become certified- and the client is a renter who can’t find the construction year on his San Diego home. He rents from a property management company. So far he has checked with the management co., Zillow, and Trulia. Any suggestions on where I should direct him next would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you again and sorry for the double post!

Hi Lacey!
There is actually a page in the manual that talks about construction year and how to find it.  If there hasn’t been a replacement of the toilet, you can many times find a year stamped on the inside of the toilet tank lid and sometimes there is a year stamped on the sidewalk outside the building.  The owner of the building would have the information with his/her title papers.  If it were a single family residence, you can usually get the construction information at the County Office, however, if it’s an apartment building, then only the owner can obtain the information or you have to have the owner’s signature on an authorization form.  Many times there will be neighbors who remember when the building was built.  Remember that you’re working with a 20-year construction period, so if the year falls right in the middle of the period, (i.e., any of the 1970’s years will be construction number 6), it’s not so crucial to have the exact year, but if it’s near the end or beginning of a construction period, then you definitely need to have the exact year. Hope that helps. 🙂
